Two Tweaks that Led to 9 Enrollments in a Weekend
I know it may seem like a lifetime ago, but back in March, we started seeing things shift in the world. I remember I had spent a month traveling pretty frequently to and from San Diego, and I arrived home from my last trip in Mid-March only to realize just how much the concerns were escalating around Coronavirus where I live (Seattle).
If I’m honest, I wasn’t exactly sure what would happen and the thought did cross my mind… “Should I pull back in my business?” It’s interesting how similar thoughts also surfaced a few weeks ago after the murder of George Floyd.
I’m not discounting the magnitude of COVID-19 or of George’s Floyd’s murder, and both of these reminded me there is always something going on, whether globally, nationally, or in your personal life, that can be made into a reason to stop living your mission.

The most important thing you can do when something unexpected comes up is to stand in your truth. If your honest truth is to take a pause in your business, then by all means do so. If your truth is to continue expanding your mission, message, and business, then do that. Whatever you decide, take your next action powerfully.

Today I’m sharing what I did this spring to enroll my first 9 people into a new program in one weekend at the beginning of COVID-19 shutdowns when people were getting laid off, losing income, or feeling uncertain.
I had every reason to think I couldn’t be successful during such uncertainty, yet this was the most successful kickoff to a launch I’ve had to date, and it was all because of two specific tweaks I made…
one
I was transparent.
When I hosted free training or Zoom calls leading up to the weekend, I made an offer on those training sessions for a free call with me or one of my team members. I was transparent about the purpose of the call.
I did not frame the call as just a free coaching session. I framed the call as a call where the person would specifically hear about and be offered my new program. Because I did this, those who booked the calls knew they would hear an offer.
We had 13 calls and 9 of those amazing souls said, “I am IN, and I want to pay in full.” That’s a 70% enrollment rate – pretty awesome!
two
I leaned into generosity.
I heard something Taki Moore said that really hit home with me and colored my experience of the shutdown. He said, “Stop consuming and start creating.” Wow! That’s the energy I took into everything I did leading up to the 9 enrollments in a weekend.
See, prior to that weekend, I led a paid 5-day experience around high ticket selling. Instead of keeping that experience light and “not giving too much away,” I took the opposite approach. I actually poured into the lovely souls who invested in that container. I gave everything I could and stood for their breakthroughs.
Giving generously always makes an impact, and I know that because I showed up that way, I inspired the people in that group to want to go deeper with me in my new program.
