When I think back to even my first couple of years as a coach, I was working with clients and building towards the six-figure level. I found myself really feeling stuck and frustrated in that I knew I wanted more. I desired to break through and become a really successful entrepreneur but I just wasn’t there yet.
At the same time, I started to feel like I was just doing the same thing all the time and of course generating the same results. I would look around me at my fellow coaches and we were all in the same boat. I just remember being in a conversation andexpressing how I felt like I was working endless hours and I had way too much on my plate, yet I still hadn’t broken through.
I thought, there has to be a better way.
So, of course, I got into figuring out the HOW. I would look at people I admired online and I would copy their business framework, at least what I could see of it from the outside. I thought, maybe I needed to make a course, or get into Facebook Ads… I had no direction. I didn’t know what I was doing, I was just looking up other examples of it. And I put all this time and money and energy into it when I really didn’t have the money, I was using credit cards and it was just a mess. I was basically flailing and trying to make things happen without having any guidance or support.
When I look back at myself now, lovingly, I realize I did the best I could with what I knew. In reality, during this time I was never working on my inner game as in the mindset of being an entrepreneur. Now that I’m on the other side, I’ll say this because I know it for sure:
The one thing between you and an abundance of clients is your mindset.
It really took a shift from within, with my mindset, for me to finally break through to six-figures. It was exciting, but I still didn’t feel like I was making any money. Everything that was coming in was going out because I was investing in so many things and I was truly frustrated. I stepped back and asked myself – why did I start this coaching business in the first place? I didn’t do it to be attached to my phone and computer all the time. I did it so I could connect and help other people.
I took some time to reconnect within so I could become fired up about my business again. Here’s what you can do to amp up your mindset if you’re in a slump:
1: Reconnect with your vision for the year.
Think about how many individuals, beautiful souls you want to impact this year – whether through a group program or speaking. Connect with each person you’re helping now and in the future and get excited about what will shift for them as a result of working with you.
2: Have a clear revenue goal.
I know you’re not in this for the money, but having a revenue goal is very important. Don’t think of it as representing money. Think of it as representing the level of impact.
It’s so easy to have our goals fall by the wayside when you get busy in life or in your head, so take the time this week to reconnect in. You owe it to yourself, your business, and your clients!
